![]() ![]() ![]() To put a finer point on it, the movie is a murder mystery, and a challenging one. Watson from the Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock, that people withdraw their handshake and say “ah, yes, Martin Freeman.” He plays Rembrandt in this film about the artist’s uber-famous painting known as The Night Watch rather, I should say it’s about the circumstances-and shady circumstances they are-surrounding this massive canvas depicting the Amsterdam Militia Company of District II. Usually when I say “Martin Freeman,” the response is “I’m pleased to meet you, Martin.” It’s not until I remind folks that he played Arthur Dent in the 2005 film The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, or Dr. I don’t usually start bugging you about them, though, unless they’re remarkable. ![]() One of his more recent films, Nightwatching (2007)-actually a 2-DVD set-just sort of fell into my hand, and usually I watch films that do that. ![]() He’s somewhat less well-known for several other films such as A Zed and Two Noughts (1985), The Draughtsman’s Contract (1982), and my personal favorite, The Falls (1980).
